An instrument to evaluate the behaviour of the goalkeeper against the shots was presented. The analysis of this evaluation allows the planning of a specific training. The aim of this study was to validate some coefficients of efficacy (formula that determines a numerical value of the relation between the quantity of successes and the assembly of intents) have been previously used and their validity was proven using data from the European Water polo Championship celebrated in Seville in August 1997. The methodology of observation has been systematized and prepared of natural type, Anguera (1978), since the people observed (players) and the investigators carried out a normal behaviour by a subjective and indirect method, Blázquez (1990), where the observer was a participant of passive type, according to Anguera (1978), and remains like a strange one, being anonymous for the observed. In a first place, the instrument of registration was quantified, for periods and chronological order, the types of shots, the position of the player that corresponds to the different locations in attack (1-top right, 2-down right, 3-center, 4-down left, 5- top left and 6 centre attack) and they as be left-handed or dexterous, the distance of the shot classified taking advantage of the lines of the field of play (2, 4 and 7 m) according to the position that occupy the contrary player in reference to the shooter, case of been present (opposition front arm with ball, opposition front arm without ball, opposition of back on strong side, opposition of back on weak side, lateral opposition on strong side, lateral opposition on weak side and without opposition), the zone of introduction of the ball that is analyzed from the division of the goal posts (six equal parts). The type of detention: stop (deliberate action to stop with the two hands the ball), stop (deliberate action to stop with a hand the ball) and reject (fortuitous action to repel the ball with any part of the body). And finally, the zone of detention that coincides with that of introduction of the ball, more the three lateral of the entrance whenever intervene the goalkeeper. And in a second place, the coefficients of efficacy proposed for to be validated. 1. Coefficient of efficacy in detained shots with loss of the possession (CEDSW)= detained shots with possession loss x 100 / shots received. 2. Coefficient of efficacy in detained shots without loss of the possession (CEDSO)= detained shots without possession loss x 100 / shots received. The employed statistical techniques for the validation of the instrument for the quantitative evaluation of the efficacy of the goalkeeper of water polo set against the shots have been the test of reliability (alpha of Cronbach) and subsequently an analysis factorial (Correlation of Pearson) with test of rotation varimax to verify the validity of the coefficients proposed. The analysis has been carried out by means of the statistical package SPSS version 12.0 (environment Windows). In a subsequent pilot study an ANOVA was applied to these two coefficients: CEDSW and CEDSO. CEDSW showed significant differences (P<0.0001) between winning and losing teams, and also (P<0.0005) between the several situational categories (man-up, man-down and transitions). No statistically significant differences were found in CEDSO. It is concluded with the suitability of two formulae (coefficients) that can permit that analysis desired. |
