Both Honved and Vasas had the victory in their hands – but Jug is the laughing 3rd now. And confident victories in LEN-Cup, despite referees work. Eternal opponents, and now they met in Euro League… Yes, they definitely bored from each other… and me too from Vasas/Honved… Honved/Vasas.
The game was about surprising solutions, silly goals and ridiculous executions from clear score positions. Therefore I only highlight the memorable moments of the game. At start the game didn’t show the usual quality of Vasas-Honved clashes. You could felt lucky to see at least some shots other than the tough defenses both team presented. But quality improved for the next 8 minutes: shots in a row missing accuracy. But at least I could cheer for inventive solution – as in Balazs Harai’s score: a shot glanced off the block, Harai as a scuba-driver arrived for the ball, scoring and shocking the defense (Barna Steinmetz and Zoltan Matyas). For the middle of the 3rd quarter, Honved made less mistakes, Marton Szivos scored in man-up (that was the 1st extra-man Honved managed to score!!) and Honved had the lead (6-2!!!). Everybody thought: it’s determined… the problem is… this is what Honved players thought as well…. And Vasas switched from -4 to +1 in 4,5 minutes time. The silly score of the game: Adam Steinmetz strong shot from center snapped on Istvan Gergely’s head, and from there behind the goal line. The “how could we gave away a 4 goal lead?” thought of Honved was transferred into their game and they simply couldn’t score. Balazs Harai managed to equalize, but Daniel Varga shot through the blocking hands (if there were any). Just for the honor of the game: Honved finally played a nice extra-man out – pass of Oliver Kovacs was pull in nicely by Attila Barany. Then Vasas screwed one more extra-man… and that was the end… 8-8…. SUMM: Well, there’s difference between worse and worse. Comparing to the previous clashes of Vasas/Honved in Komjadi… Honved played much more better… okay, just better. And Vasas… well, they’re in some kind of downturn… many not accurate shots, bad ball passes. Only the defense was okay with both teams. Man-ups are still horrible… Honved had the first two quarters, and Vasas the last two. Honved had a big chance to defeat Vasas hard, but got to comfortable with the 4 goal lead… Vasas played a fall-apart game, Honved couldn’t keep up the disciplined play. Plays like this will be very few to qualify… and both teams know that. VASAS-HONVED 8-8 (1-1, 1-3, 2-2, 4-2) Scorers: Vasas: R. Kovacs 2, Daniel Varga 2, M. Toth 2, A. Matyas 1, A. LEN-CUP Luckily we had some cheering victories yesterday as well… both Szeged and Eger won. I should say the tendency is still live: referees give extra hand to Cremona – but they can’t use it. If that’s referees in Szeged home pool, what will they do in Italy? EGER-ORADEA 14-9 (3-1, 5-1, 3-4, 3-3) Scorers: Eger: G. Hegedus 3, Zs. Varga II. 3, P. Biros 2, Csaba Kiss 2, B. Nyeki 2, A.
