One of the nation’s top age group tournaments didn’t disappoint this year, either, as 200+ participants descended on what San Diego Shores head coach and event organizer Doug Peabody classified as “the most successful tournament we have ever put on.” BOYS DIVISION AA
Robert Dunlivie earned MVP honors in leading his Stanford club past a well-balanced Lamorinda in the Gold Medal game, 3-2. San Diego Shores placed third. GIRLS DIVISION AA
Co-MVPs Kiley Neushul (4 goals in final game) and Tiera Schroeder paced Santa Barbara as they edged a tough Laguna Beach squad, 10-6. BOYS DIVISION A
Laguna Beach’s Nolan McConnell scored more than half (5) of his team’s goals in a 9-7 victory against Lamorinda to win Gold. GIRLS DIVISION A
A strong but short-handed Davis group (7 players) came out victorious versus Santa Barbara. Davis goalie Haley Cameron allowed only one goal in the Gold medal match. BOYS 6TH GRADE AND UNDER
Division MVP Joey Colton scored three goals to lead Saddleback El Toro (SET) to a 9-6 win against Lamorinda in the final. Connor Reid paced Lamorinda with three goals of his own. GIRLS 6TH GRADE AND UNDER
Santa Barbara doubled up Laguna Beach, 14-7, in the Gold medal game as Co-MVPs Jamie Neushel and Kelsey O’Brien led the way. Santa Barbara’s Chloe Madill scored six goals in the final. CO-ED 4TH GRADE AND UNDER
In this division’s inaugural County Cup, Club Newport flexed its muscle to defeat a very strong Commerce team in the final game. San Diego Shores earned the Bronze by outlasting SET. “I have never seen an age-group tournament of this size run so smoothly and have this high a level of officiating,” said Joe O’Brien, former UCSB Men’s and Women’s Coach and father of 6th Grade Division Co-MVP Kelsey O’Brien. “The venues and tables were great and on time.
