WATER POLO MOURNS THE LOSS OF SPORTING GREAT
Two-time Olympic Water Polo player Ron Turner died in a road traffic accident on 12th October, aged 80. Two-time Olympic Water Polo player Ron Turner died in a road traffic accident on 12th October, aged 80.
Ron competed at the 1952 and 1956 Olympic Games and was then selected onto the World team after the 1956 Games.
He remained an active member of the West London Penguin Swimming and Water Polo club until his death and was twice president of the club and served on the management committee for over 50 years. He leaves behind a wife and two grown-up children.
Club President Miguel Ortiz said: “Ron was an inspiration to many generations of Water Polo players.”

The funeral will take place on Wednesday 24th October from 1.00 to 2.00pm at Mortlake Crematorium, Kew Meadow Path (off Townmead Road), Richmond, TW9 4EN.
