Men´s water polo Final standings Croatia wins FINA World Championships for the first time in history. The top three are qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. 1. Croatia 2. Japan The Croatian men´s team did not only win the gold medal at FINA World Championships for the first time in history, but also created one of the biggest upsets in Melbourne, Australia. The team from Adriatic coast also ended the winning streak of the teams from Serbia and Hungary, which had won all ten major titles since 2003 and created an almost incredible dominance in men´s World waterpolo since 2005. In addition to the Croatian upset Spain beat European champion Serbia in the bronze medal game as well and secured the third Olympic Games berth. |
