Two teams... none of them has been beaten so far in Spain... but only one can win.
Russia-Hungary 5:13 (1:5, 1:3, 1:2, 2:3) Interesting face impressions from the Hungarian after finishing the "warm-up" in a cold pool, and moving out for introduction. Russia won the 1st sprint for possession, but thanks to a bad hint, they can't get the lead, unlike Hungary who starts the row of goals with Daniel Varga's (0:1). Second attack also finished by a goal executed by Rajmund Fodor (0:2). In the first Hungarian man-up Peter Biros scores a bombastic (0:3), then a big one from far by Norbert Madaras (0:4). And it's still him... with an action goal from the right (0:5). Jurchik changes a bit on the results (1:5). In the 2nd quarter - Tibor Benedek fights a penalty, executed by Norbert Hosnyanszky (1:6). It's Jurchik again (2:6). Two Hungarian scores: Daniel Varga, Norbert Madaras (2:8). Russia wins the sprint for posession and they're immediately offered a man-up, but cannot score as Hungary's defense work pretty okay. Denes Kemeny made a goalie change, so it's now Laszlo Baksa who saves twice shot in a row. Daniel Varga executes a man-up (2:9), Tibor Benedek rising from the water, swining the ball and then hitting the net hard (2:10). Garbuzov swims away with the ball, righ behind him Csaba Kiss, but he still scores (3:10). The final sprint also won by Russia and they're given the man-up yet again, but still cannot score... thanks to Laszlo Baksa's defense 3 times in a row. Hungarian man-up, executed by Norbert Hosnynaszky (3:11), Luksinov scrores (3:11). Daniel Varga shots the ball in the far corner (4:12), Agarkov strives to work on the billboard results (5:12). Norbert Hosnyanszky draws in man-up (5:13). SUMM: It's interesting to see how opponents of Hungary jump in the water... full of confidence, try to make their best... and it comes clear in a short time, that they confidence cannot last long. I don't know whether is psychic, or a "too strong" Hungarian team that kills opponent's confidence... but it happens. Russia was one of the big surprises in Portugalete. I don't think so that anyone thought that after they were beaten by everyone at Budapest, they can make a 360 degrees turn and beat everyone in the group... except Hungary. Although Hungary won with great statistics, winning all the games in the 2 prelims, there're mistakes... sometimes it's like that they pool the breaks, leaving out man-up situations, some gaps in defense... but on the other hand they get themselves together too fast for the opponent to make any effort from it. This game really doesn't mattered too much for Hungary (as they already qualified for Berlin after the game against Roumania), but they still took the game seriously and with professional approach. Russia - scorers: Jurchik 2, Garbuzov 1, Luksinov 1, Agorkov 1, Hungary - scorers: Daniel Varga 4, N. Madaras 3, N. Hosnyanszky 3, R. Fodor 1, P. Biros 1, T. Benedek 1. So only one place is free for the Berlin SF8 "plane"... and it's decided between Croatia and Roumania. If Croatia wins against Spain, they go to Berlin, if not... than it's Roumania in the SF8. |
