The winner of the first two editions of the former Champions League in 1996 and 1997 has lost one of its key players, Serbian international Vanja Udovicic, in the meantime.The MVP of the recent World League Super Final in Berlin, Germany has left Naples to join Europe´s and Italy´s current number one Pro Recco. This controversial change was already subject to many discussions and even legal actions, but the simple fact cannot be denied any more and has been replaced by other news now. Earlier this week the Italians have announced a new team sponsor as well so that the men´s senior team will now be called “Tufano electronics Posillipo“. But this weekend´s EuroLeague games, which are already starting tonight, could be troublesome for the top-seeded Italians, who already qualified for the national cup final in the first serious matches this season. The French representative Montpellier WP is one of the underdogs here in Naples, but the third- and fourth-seeded teams of 2004 finalist VK Jadran Herceg Novi from Montenegro and the Hungarian representative ”Brendon-Fenstherm “ ZF Eger are highly competitive. Only the top two will advance to the prestigious Preliminary Round matches. Eger even tied Italy´s number three “Brixia” Leonessa Brescia at the first-round tournament in Lisbon, Portugal.
