Eger
beat Szeged in extra-time… A weaker performance for Eger was enough to make it…
While Szeged should have played like this from the very start of the play-off.
It’s not an easy season for Szeged. Great start, excellent defense, a resigning coach, new coach, failing in the LEN-Cup, and now…

It’s not an easy season for Szeged. Great start, excellent defense, a resigning coach, new coach, failing in the LEN-Cup, and now… failing in the play-off.They season start was more than promising, and they grabbed the lead in the National League… then they were drawn by Eger in the LEN-Cup, and lost games came in row in the League.
Andras Gyongyosi terminating his contract with the Club also hardened their preparation, although the whole team is satisfied with replacement, Zoltan Kasas.
At the beginning of the season, they had excellent defense… resulting less scores from the opponents. The goalie Laszlo Baksa has improved a lot, Tamas Varga gave an extra push for the team especially his cooperation with Weszelovszky.
Then… who knows what happened… Szeged started to lapse, and now… they play for the 3rd rank… but what’s more important to them… the chance to start in Euro League in the next season. If they had played like they did it yesterday, from the start of the play-off… the Eger vs. Szeged could have been the top quality play-off row.

Eger on the other hand… well they built a strong team. All the experts said that with the already given team adding Peter Biros and Zoltan Szecsi can be so-long waited competitors of the Budapest elite’ teams. Forgive me my subjectivity, but they’re my favorites… especially with their performance in this season. At the beginning they were working a lot on the team coherence and this can be said by some of their weaker performance at the start. But then they became a team, and start to load the engines. Okay, they weren’t unbeaten (neither the others:), but presented the most balanced performance in the whole season (unlike Honved and Vasas with their weak ones ever). In LEN-Cup final against Chekov their play was herky-jerky, but nothing is decided (although it will be difficult for them in Chekov). Their play-off was more than excellent (except maybe yesterday’s game)… excellent defense work (and for that a grateful Zoltan Szecsi), smart attacks, great team and individual performances. So, yes… they deserved it to make into the Final… and honestly, they deserve to win the Hungarian League.
I love the idea that finally it won't be Honved-Vasas/Vasas-Honved in the League final!:)
