Boot Camp & the „Killer Group”

Monday morning was a „press-welcome” training for the National Men’s Team at Balatonfuzfo.

All the media people were thrilled to have photos with the 3 brothers (Adam Steinmetz, Barnabas Steinmetz/Tamas Varga, Zsolt Varga II./Daniel Varga, Denes Varga) but unfortunately Daniel Varga had to return to Budapest because of medical reasons (his ribs were hurt during the Super Cup on Saturday).Training started with swimming, than shooting were practiced in small groups. In the final part man-ups were practiced... with a better in defence Hungarian „team”.Short interview with Denes Kemeny: - The players’ approach is great, but this is what I’ve expected. If this 17 players look around they see that there’s a lot of work to do to be present on the National Team trainings in the end of May. Everybody is doing what I want them to do.What about the „new boys”?- They all drive hard, but of course... performances are not the same which is normal as I try everybody on different posts. We do differently things as in a club-training: I have different ideas that aren’t the same as the what they have to play in the League.When will be the next training?- 18-24 February, with Volvo Cup (22-24 February) as closing at Kecskemét. Two days before Volvo Cup we will have a friendly game with Germany at Hodmezovasarhely. The team will be changed during that time, so there will be players that won’t be present for the whole 7 days get-together.

„Killer Group”

This is how sports newspapers call Group „C” in Euro League... And both Hungarian trainers „prayed” to avoid each other.On the Sunday draw by lot for Euro League, luck was everywhere except with Honved and Vasas.Presumably Pro Recco is the only team to sit quite and to avoid attention in Margitsziget, after their group was finalized. From my part – and actually after some time for most of the fans will probably feel the same – it will be too much Honved vs. Vasas, and Vasas vs. Honved this year.
